Love Song

Outline: Slightly cynical - perhaps!
I may give you my tomorrow
As I cherish your today,
But don’t ask about forever
For it’s much too far away.

Tonight I love you freely
Tomorrow has a price.
Just now our hearts may beat as one
But it may not happen twice.

I'm afraid that there is a bit of cynicism here Anony! But in the circs very understandable. Sharp little
verse of the high standard you always produce. Thanks for sharing.

If that title reflects the meaning of a 'Love song', then it's a damn short one Shocked .
Cynicism is a bit like patriotism, it being the last refuge of the scoundrel.

That said, this short eight liner struck a chord. I well remember the almost identical attitude from a one-night stand experience of many years ago at the height of 'Greer's, Female Eunuch'. The only difference being that it was I who uttered a similar refrain to my bed-mate. Alas she did not take too kindly to advice akin to your short verse.

A salutary lesson in the continuing saga of the 'Mysteries"!

Cheers CDS.

PS. the edits for the spelling of chord or rather cord as I originally spelt it Cool

Thanks, Rob and Hueyanne, for your comments. What do you mean by "Scoundrel", CDS? (Still can't bring myself to call you "Bottom of the Bag!" albeit One-way street.) How do you know that this reflects my actual thoughts or, perish the thought, experience? Maybe I am just fantasizing at being that kind of person!!!

Anon - a great little ditty, a total trueism - and I love the cat - Wish I could dance like that!

Hi Anony

I didn't think it was cynical - just realistic.

Quote:
Just now our hearts may beat as one
But it may not happen twice.

Perfectly and cleverly put.

I couldn't help hearing 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?' (one of my favourite songs) while I was reading it.

I thought you got it just right in very few words (but then, you're very good at that).

Cheers

Ah, you rumbled my source of inspiration, Karen!! It was a good song, probably quite risque for its era! Very Happy

Fantasizing eh? Now that's more like it, I well remember the time when this rather.... oops, enuff!

Carole King as inspiration, well you can't do better than that really, so this only adds to the nice rhythm of it.

Bottom of the bag, hmmm, I don't actually mind that at all and as I actually live in a street that some call a 'Close' and others a 'Cul-De-Sac' I will have mischievous fun with the nieghbours...'If I'm the Bottom, well what's that make you then?' Hah! The poor womans English too.

Cheers Anony. Cool

Just a little cynical, but actually very honest and true. Actually, is honesty relative? Anyway, succinct and perfectly phrased, too, as we'd expect. Nice to see some humour coming through as well.

And are relatives honest?
Please excuse flippancy. Up late talking to my daughter in New Zealand, who was just about to take a pre-prandial dip in her pool - that's the life! Or so she said!!!
