Crashed Plane

Outline: The price of war
Why: To show the foolish waste of life in war
Review: Any comment welcome
The bombing raid siren
Threw sounds loud and clear,
Accross rubble that once was our town
The children all fled,
And the town became dead.
As a bomber, 'their' bomber, came down.

The sky's grey appearance
Was filled with black smoke.
Then a Scarlet, an Orange, a Red.
The blood curdling crash,
and a terrible smash.
There she goes, another one dead.

The very next day, I went to the spot
Where the plane had fallen from sky.
The aircraft a zero, the pilot a hero,
Who sacrificed life, for his country to die.
The plane was but ash, from the fire.
The stupidity and wastage of life.
I thought of his friends,
and the love they all send.
His Family, His Children, His Wife.

Hi FC
You have summed up the futility of war very well.

I agree completely with MummyPenguin. You've composed some good lines here and expressed the empiness and futility of it all. A difficult thing to do. The second stanza has excellent use of colour to bring it to life visually.

Good stuff.

A very thoughtfully and accurately crafted poem, which although on a sad subject, I was glad to read. I lived through the blitz in WW2, and hated every minute of it. The Daily Express gave dayly reports of casualty department, and I marvel that anyone has survived to tell
the tale.

Thanks Robb,
Just wanted to show how the foolishness of war
affects not only those who are called to serve,
but their friends and family, have to live
with the awful consequences
Sad Sad Sad Sad

Another gem, FC. I like the way you call the pilot a hero, even though he fought for the other side. Of course he's a hero, in the enemy's eyes. And he didn't want to die any more than the people whose homes he was bombing did. Great stuff. Cool

Many thanks again Sammy for your kind review.
I shall never know what makes men want to go
to war and kill one another.
I'm all for Peace.

Well put together with a surprising twist. I agree with all the previous comments, I particularly liked how in the beginning it was 'THEIR' bomber spreading panic and fear but come the finale(not sure I should describe it so,but..)your compassion shone thru' (nurse!) and our thoughts are directed to the fact that all loss of life, on all sides is an inescapable consequence of all conflicts, and that if you look past the smoke, someone somewhere is hurting. Its the ripple effect. I'll vote for you.

ManyThanks KRC,
Sorry to be late answering, but my Pc is
at the repair shop, so am using a friend's.
I agree that all life is precious, the futility of war leaves so many people hurting, for even the enemy has caring family.
An not all soldiers are willing to go and fight. They have no choice.
I thank you for your kind comments.
