Born Again Crispian

Outline: A thinly sliced and deep fried piece of nonsense.
Why: Because it's raining
Review: Whatever!

When it comes eating or snacking
you won’t find me craftily unwrapping
sticky cakes, chocolate or sweets
the flavours I crave those that I favour
the tastes that I long for those I savour
are found only in savoury treats

Peanuts, Pecans and Cashews may be ok
but for me it’s crisps that really hold sway
smokey bacon, ready salted, Marmite or cheese
prawn cocktail or salt and vinegar
I desire only the tastes that tingle and linger
nothing compares to treats such as these

I’m a spud freak a pomme de terre fanatic
boiled, roasted, mashed or simply just jacket
I’m a born again Crispian a crunch loving fool
Oh the humble potato so plump and so round
a gastronomic delight from out of the ground
thinly sliced, deep fried is sure to make me drool.

Author Explanation: Got completely fed up with reworking serious pieces so wrote this instead!

Hi Grant,

Laughing Oh this is yummy. I have a few crisp (potato chips where I come from) everyday with my lunch, I love them too. And any sort of potato lol. I'm not fat, so I'm lucky there. I'm so glad you decided to write a poem with such truth of admittance that must have been a joy to write. It is polish and well written. Great stuff. Excellent. cheers, scarlet

lol, I fell in here and I'm glad I did.

It reads like one of those feel good song-type things you just thrash out, I liked it. I too love spuds (naturally I suppose), nothing better, we have them with every meal no matter what here.

Tim (who knows exactly where he buried his spuds)

Hi Tim,
Thanks for dropping in, glad you liked it, I needed (To write) some light relief after more recent serious works (That seem to have split opinion 50/50) at least most people can identify with the humble spud!
Cheers
Grant

Hi Grant

At last a potato poem. I too love spuds, especially roast ones - properly done, not those coated frozen jobs that masquerade as the real thing in so many places. But my all time favourites are the sautee potatoes you get in a really old fashioned Italian restaurant. Sliced and fried to perfection, mmmm my mouth is watering.

Interestingly enough Bernie, the medical food police have been getting at me lately and apparently I need to introduce more starch into my diet. So inspired by Tnarg, I'm off to get some chips!

There is nothing like a flavoured crisp. I also like mashed potato, at which I'm a dab hand. Try mashing in grated cheddar then sprinkle top with the same and grill. Exquisite!

Brian

How long before it happens ?
It has ?
Fancy that.

Damn you !

Hi Grant,

how wonderfully refreshing to hear someone simply delighting in the wonders of a bag of crisps, chips and all sorts of forbidden fruit. It really does have a feel good factor and I just loved it!

Thank you so much for this burst of freedom,

Pamx Very Happy

Made me hungry.
I'm a savoury fan and a sweet fan. In fact any sort of food I shouldn't eat. Still, I draw comfort in the fact that I grew my stomach myself. Fed and watered.

Poem fully digested and found to be tasty.
Good one.

Ian

Spudlicious!

(Although Prawn Cocktail and Marmite flavours would be pushing it.)

Btw, a 'S' supermarket sells bags of delicious savoury potato product with black pepper and salt and woooo, c'est magnifique!

Hmm cheese...cheese...cheese.

Bestest,
Inker
