7/04/08 - Keeping Up With The Joneses

You supposed your dragon was
important, worthy of first class?
Proud…that he may be; pert
with cutes eyes blinking. Alas,
important? No, surely, no.
He’s tiny! No bigger than a pistachio
that’s fallen to the ground,
sitting amongst a debris of leaves,
waiting to shoot out white
leg of root and green arm of
will-be-trunk-one-day that's bound
to be thick and weighty.

Oh, I see…
he’s also waiting to grow,
expecting us to feed and water him. Yes,
I hear his pride growling from inside; a
bubbling, milling around his stomach
juices in anticipation of being able to fly.
You supposed he could do that
when you sent for him from the internet?
But eBay can’t sell fully-grown,
thirty feet long dragons.
How would the postman
deliver to your home?

So, the guide says this
pistachio-green, nut-sized,
wannabe fire-breathing beasty
will only take five months
to reach full height.

Do you think the neighbours
will put up a fight
if we extend the garage?
Shouldn’t think so, either.
After all, their plesiosaur
pool is rather large.

Hi Inker,

I like this poem. I also like the sound of conversation in this piece. It makes you want to get involved lol. To use a dragon is unusal in itself. Great stuff. Enjoyed the read

Hello sd,

Thanks for looking in.

This was prompted by the pond at the back of my garden and the amount of wildlife that's suddenly appeared.

It's still a rough piece, which will get worked on at a later date.

Cheers, me dear.

Slightly surreal take on keeping up with the Jones'es - like the thought of a pistachio sized dragon that grows to full height in just 5 months - and you thought a puppy was bad!

Yes, original - enjoyed

?puppy? Erm, where'd that come from, or is it all part of the surrealness?

Yes, let's play fetch!

Thanks for peeping in.

erm would not the dragon of this size deliver the post man to you..that is unless he's called George...

Puff used to live by the sea, so hope you have salt water in the pond..Scarlet liked the sound of conversation in the work, I suppose she took it for granted that you were talking to
yourself, and that you have hairs growing on the palm of your hand which I understand is the first sign..the second being looking for them...

An interesting one

Hi Logi,

Suppose if the dragon was full-sized it would deliver itself, lol. That's if it could read the address label, of course.

You sound like the expert on shaving palms. Never looked to see if hairs grow, personally. I leave that to my friend in the mirror.

Thankyousmuchios.
