Cooking With Love.

COOKING WITH LOVE.

A flash fry lasts a minute
stir frying lasts but two
and boiling takes the goodness out
leaving no taste for me and you

Steaming's much more lifelike
but roasting's not my scene
grilling's for days spent alone
trying to remember where you've been

Braising's just not quite enough
and poaching's much too wet
so I reckon that leaves one to try
which could be the best one yet ?

So... Casserole me baby
casserole me tonight
do it slow for three or four hours
or we can make it last all night

Casserole me baby
don't burn those calories too fast
casserole me baby
and we can really make it last

'Cause a flash fry lasts a minute
and stir frying lasts but two
but a hot and spicy casserole
can last the whole night through.

This made me do a big loud squawk of delight that probably upset the neighbours!
I can hear this set to a really dirty blues riff. What a creative way of saying 'do it to me for ages'.
I just love it - lovely rhythm, light and sexy, well done. I hope you had as much fun writing it as I had reading it.
How did the idea come to you, dare I ask?

Liked a lot.

(Be careful for the slow burn though, ha,ha).

Cheers

You've forgot the micro-wave
Just remove the wrappings
Prick the top.Just think of all
The time you'll save.

I shall now see you as the new "John Donne".

Ooohhhhh, YES; beautiful, Chris. No wonder I like caseroles, best. Although, I do love a good roast, too, as I can be very traditional, at times with meat and 2 veg!

Sorry, I digress, back to reviewing.

This poem left me with a sense of hunger, yet a sense of total satisfaction. Is that possible? Of course it is. I like contradictions as it brings about the third dimesion, in character and plot, for me.

Quote:
So... Casserole me baby
casserole me tonight
do it slow for three or four hours
or we can make it last all night

I think the
Quote:
...or we can make it last all night
takes the momentum back with a choice. I wouldn't have used "or" at the beginning of the last line in this verse. So or and would leave the anticipation running all night.

Loved this bit:
Quote:
Casserole me baby
don't burn those calories too fast

It's like your MC is saying, don't care about the shape and size, I just love the way you are!

Not sure about the last 2 lines of that verse:
Quote:
casserole me baby
and we can really make it last

Last line seems to repeat the last line of the previous verse. I would be more inclined to say something along the lines of: Let's make it really last.

I'm not a poet, so feel free to ignore my suggestions, but I did enjoy the tantalising thoughts that food arouses, here. Laughing

Thanks, Chris. The pleasure was all mine!

A rich tender casserole
Made me hungry.
Made me smile.
I now fancy a crumpet smothered in butter, by the fire.
Nibble away.

Fun poem that I can digest and save some for later.

I would like to point out to all those who have suggested alternate cooking methods that I left out 'spit roasting' too...

Sal. I think but am not certain that the line of dialogue was Benny Hill's originally.
That is what I remember it as anyway. One of his 'characters' was being interviewed
and was asked if he liked being caressed ? and he said no, casseroled... to be done slowly for three and a half hours... I found it funny and seem to have remembered it.

P.G.K, Scarlet & Ian. Glad you 'enjoyed' it.

Han. Yeah, it did ok at the mic'. Got more laughs from women than men tho'.
I'm sure there's some Freudian gobbledygook for why. I put it down to the fact that a lot of men are crap at cooking and wouldn't know a casserole from a second 'bottom'.
(I'm being polite here for a change).

J.J... Meat & two veg eh ? Ah the joys of 'cooking'.
Why is it that cooking equates to sex so well ? Must be something to do with taste but I'll leave the eating jokes and puns to someone slightly crasser...

The 'or we can make it last all night'. I am always happy to give the young lady a choice, after all she doesn't have to stay over...

The 'and we can really make it last' is probably either lazy writing or me trying to get the right 'method' in my rhythm. (so glad I thought of that).
I'd guess at the first probably. Let me have a think about it and I'll see what I can come up with ?

'Don't burn those calories...' We are always being told by experts that having sex equates with a good run re exercise. I had no thoughts on 'size' whether 10 or 20.
and no, believe me, the pleasure was definitely not all yours...

Glad you all enjoyed it... you will all let me know if it works for you, won't you ?

Because if you do both well, you can use all your senses to gain total satisfaction.

OK, my apologies, a man who is not assuming, just leaving the door open.

Embarassed Sorry, forgot about the chef. My penance: a good run on the tread mill.
