The Ostler

Outline: Calomine
Why: Attention seeking
Review: honest, or any.
White eye cornered
Flaring throlls
Rumbles the ostle
Pocking its path

While I unseen
With my size 9s
Press back the weals
Gently heal.
Natures witch hazel.

Author Explanation: Dog walk.

It's pure nonsensical whimsy, Edward Lear merges with Spike milligan.

It "orates" well but I have to admit though I enjoy it I haven't the faintest idea what it all means.

I don't know what this is about either Confused , maybe something to do with horses. It's an interesting read, can't wait to have it explained. scarlet

Throlls is a word I heard in a different poem once and someone told me it relates to horses. I also know that an Ostler is a horse groomer, so I am assuming that in a roundabout way this is relating to horses, so into this very challenging poem I read that a horse had been beaten or abused and that the Ostler was calming the horse and grooming away the marks, both mentally and physically. Am I anywhere near the truth?

Thanks everyone for your reviews.
Brillo, you're well on the right track. An ostler works with horses. Pack horse trains come to mind. Horse comes from the norse for strong. Throlls are nostrils.
I don't think the horse was abused, though, just being its wild self. I merely pressed the soft torn turfs back into place. Wink

Then this is a lovely poem and I am glad that I understood it better than I thought.

Ahh, now this took me back to the 1970s and Queen - the ostler stares with apothecary man. And tatterdemalion.

Wah, oooh, yay! Aye, I get this. Sorry, going off on one.

Witch hazel is a great healer, amongst many other plants which are making an important impact on the world of science. And to think, they burned witches at the stake because they thought their knowledge of plants evil. Sheesh.

Yep, a good few words on the page brought up an empassioned vision.

Bestest,
Inker
