Song Lyrics [Political] Moderators for this section: pinktwirl, Inker

He Is The Very Model Of A New Labour Politician...

Outline: This one's for Tony B'liar... Maybe I should change it to past tense and keep performing it or just retire it until he goes for President of Europe ?
Why: fun
Review: any
HE IS THE VERY MODEL OF A NEW LABOUR POLITICIAN.

He is the very model of a New Labour politician
who will not ever answer any questions that we ask of him
surrounded by his sycophants like Byers, Vaz and Mandellsohn
and he'll bend over backwards to apologise for all of them.
His government supports the rights of burglars and criminals
whose victims do not stand a chance if they fight back and stand up to them
who're brought to court to let our legal system tramp all over them...
and then are forced to watch the thieving lowlifes get let out again.

He doesn't seem to care that we can see through all his party's lies
the fact our N.H.S. is shot quite frankly comes as no surprise
We're buried beneath the rising tide of government sleaze and rising crime...
and even Adolf Hitler got his bloody trains to run on time.

He'll kiss the arse of any little toady who sends money in
to oil his party's wheels, denying favours that he's done for them
reverse his manifesto when a million quid is given him
or sell two British passports to a couple of Asian businessmen.
Six feet from left of centre while his taxes all keep rolling in
six feet from right of centre when the money all dries up again
He's on the side of all unless you're heterosexual or caucasian...
and should you protest you'll be charged with homophobia or rascism.

He won't stand up to France to stop all their illegals getting in
He won't stand up to terrorists unless they're moslems from Afghanistan
He'll make sure they all get legal aid so people say he's fair on them...
Then step back in favour of his wife who makes her living representing them.

He is the very model of a New Labour politician
and we've learned to all our cost that it's impossible to trust him.

Author Explanation: There is a line in the film 'Network' uttered by the late Peter Finch... 'I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore...' It occured to me in 2002. This was in 'heavy rotation' at gigs from that moment on until he resigned... Big thanx to W.S. and Arthur.

Chris tell me I'm wrong, because as soon as I saw the opening line I had 'GILBERT AND SULLIVAN' tweaking at my tonsils.

I've sung in the chorus and done this. The words are a reasonable fit. If you do it at a Gig you could perhaps get other members to do a chorus.

Yes Michael, it is a bit of G & S... Steal from the best I say.
Brian... Hmmmm... Never really thought of it as a 'chorus' piece but I suppose if enough like minded thinkers got together...
Now where do you think I'm going to find enough like minded souls for a chorus line... ?

Hi Chris

A good read and poem.
I think though it probably applies equally to all politicians.

Cheers

Phil
