The Floyd

Outline: Another 'Flash' inspired by the word-prompt 'Narcosis'.
Why: To praise a legendary band.
Review: All comments welcome.
The Floyd

Pink Floyd in narcotic haze
every single note was bliss
not a moment in a daze
as music touched me with a kiss

to my ears.

On and on and all night long
words and cymbals poetry
bass drum beats like Heaven's Gong
as David Gilmore plucked knowingly

at my heart

with Stratocaster gently soft
reverberating twanging strings
to lift my soul way up aloft
as he and Waters calmly sing,

'Wish you were here.'

O, yes I was and even now
without the weed mind travels far
when Pink Floyd step up, lights are low,
to play that first enchanting bar

I am there.

Hi Roy

Definitely going down memory lane here.

I think I must be the only penguin on the planet who slept through Live At Pompeii. So it was more narcolepsy than narcosis!

This on the other hand was such a fun read that it kept me wide awake and smiling.

Glad this kept you awake, MP, and I think I'll vote for you at the next General Election; 'bout time we had a two-coloured suit in the House.

Cheers

[Thu Aug 30, 2007 9:49 pm] Manifesto

Hmmm.. a manifesto. Perhaps you'd be kind enough to write one for me because the only thing that I would like to be able to do is not something that requires an Act of Parliament although I suppose one could insist on the cooperation of all parties! Wink

I know that our dear Members have been off the screen - some of them having gotten rather confused and flown south for the summer. But I can assure you that there are a number of two coloured suits that have matching faces in the House. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Thanks for the vote.

MP,

You may wish to stand on this platform.

The Penguin Manifesto

March of the penguins - No.1
Single egg might be my son?
Wings as flippers in the water
Catch a fish for would-be daughter?
One for me and one for them
When will I see them, when when when?
Five-hundred miles snow two miles deep
Will I ever get to sleep?
Never ending winter night
Stars the only thing in sight
O, how I miss my lovely wife
Huddled there in shivery strife
When I get there sun comes up
She's waiting with a big fat smile
She's waited for a long long time
So you and you and you and you
Could be an Emperor too.

No Dark Side of the Moon in this, hehe.

Enjoyed yer little poem, Ron. Never a great fan of them back when a young inkpot, much prefered Bowie, but did appreciate a few of their notes.

Have you got this month's Classic Rock? Tells all about druggy going ons with various groups. Also a rather good free cd.

Hi there Inky Pinky Paint Pot,

I was into Ziggy too and didn't get the full stoned-pink experience until my late-20s in '83 - couldn't even imagine what a 17yr-old stoned 'me' would have ended up as if I'd been stoned that young. Don't do it now, don't need it. I feel sorry for teenagers who try that and can't think straight anymore.

But apparently Gilmore might have needed some 'extra' help in '06. Shocked I read the sleeve of Geldof's Live-8 DVD, and he wrote: I went to see Gilmore, to beg him to put aside his differences with the band and reform for this special occasion. He said he was working on some 'new stuff', so I listened to it, and said to him, "David, your really need to take some more Speed"' Laughing Laughing Laughing

Wonder if he did? He's made a massive comeback since Live-8

Cheers

Aaaah Floyd. 'A Nice Pair' springs to mind and a track called 'Embryo' from a sampler. 'Relics' and 'Dark side' also. But my favourites are 'Meddle' and 'Obscured'. 'The Wall' I found to be an excellent half an album. Must set the vid for BBC1 at 11 for Gilmours concert.

Thankyou for taking me back to teens and beyond.

'Meddle' - wow, thanks for that memory, Ian. 'Echoes' from the past. Cool

Blimey, got to go back on Amazon now. Cool

Glad I could take you there, bro. Wink

Cheers

Apologies, but money well spent.

Relax, chill and immerse in the Floyd pool.
