The PassageOutline: Life is a passage Why: Better out than in. Review: Anything is better than nothing. Life is a passage,
A long dim corridor With many doors. Behind them sit people, Laughing, deriding. I soon learned Not to open doors. The passage floor is lined With the finest Rice paper. Every twist, Every turn, Every touch Leaves its print, Its mark, Tears, creases, Stretch marks, Ripples, blisters, Bulges. After my first few tentative steps, In fear of my persuers, I learned the considerable skill To walk the passage And leave No trace Author Explanation: Inspiration as always came from my morning dog walk. Actually, that's not true, it's been stewing for many years, but it came together on the walk. Walking the rice-paper lined passage leaving no trace was actually one of the rites of passage at the start of the 70s television series Kung Fu. |
