In A Manger

Outline: A 'Flash Poem' for Christmas and every other day of the year.
In A Manger

In a manger warm and snug
In a time when Romans marched
Crucifying all who spoke
And shackling hordes to dreadful yoke
Was born a boy child meek and mild
Not a Roman armed and wild
But gentle, loving, kind and wise;
Godlike then to all with eyes to see.

And He, on reaching pure maturity,
Did bring down Rome and all its might.
Never once did He fight
But spoke in terms of Love and Hope
And all good blessings on the folk
Who followed Him through thick and thin
Down the years and into futures never dim
When Love is in command.

So let us stand and look around.
See His face that does abound
In multitudes that hold their ground
And speak of Love and freedom found.

However Rome ultimately took him over under the guise of the RC and Orthodox Churches. Even today one could argue that the Vatican State is the last vestage of Roman temporal power.

Thanks for your recent review,
