Eco Echoes

Outline: There is more at stake than one's Bank Balance
Eco Echoes

Seal in a tidepool trapped by the tide
Lion in the jungle sleeping on its side
Tortoise in the garden trying hard to hide
We are in our element and they have not yet died.

But sing a song of loneliness and make it good and strong
'cause if we screw this eco thing we’ll all be judged as wrong!

I find it a tad ironic that use a verse with the words 4 and 20 blackbirds baked in a pie....what about them eh!! Laughing

A timely piece though and something for us all to think about more.

'4 and 20 Blackbirds baked in a pie', eh?

Go tell it to the French!

No, ha, seriously--Go tell it to the French! Wink

Thanks Cadenz, for your words of encouragement.

This week an American reviewer compared it favourably to a 'skipping rhyme' she used to skip to. I felt honoured, as skipping rhymes stick in the head forever.

Long live all of Evolved Creation! Wink

Best wishes,

Ron

I'm not surprised as it seems to fit the nursery rhyme, perhaps they skipped to Sing a song a sixpence.

Revenge perhaps, "Along came a blackbird and pecked off his nose."

Nicely done Ron, short sweet, appetizing??

Hello Ron,

Really enjoyed your eco poem. You have a little typo:

"Lion in the jungle sleeping on it’s side" - no '

It has just the right lightness to pack a punch.

H and annie,

One thousand apologies for not replying sooner but, for some reason, this site doesn't always alert you to reviews. Confused

Anyway, glad I spotted them tonight 'out of the blue'.

Cheers, my very good friends and thanks for comments and sugestions.

Short and not so sweet.
The warning signs are there, but will we do anything or are we happy to take what we want now and sod the future?

I think the answer is past recall!

Nice one Ron, wrote in a way that should appeal to the young, which for the subject concerned is the best age to start thinking of the planet. ASAP. Cheers

The reviewer would appreciate your comments on: Legacy

Nothing is 'beyond recall!' KRC, not when our children are making up the rules. They will be great and Life will flourish.
They are listening to this stuff. Wink

Old people don't change the world, young people who listen to their Elders do. Wink

Glad you liked this one.

Hi Log thanks for dropping by.

Wasn't on about the Kevin Turvey's. Laughing Was on about the 'real' kids who take on board these 'scare stories' before they go to Uni and read beyond the propaganda. Wink

Never thought the sentiment could be expressed so concisely, Ron... or so colourfully. Top rhyming, my man! A Cool and calculated rant. Cool

nursery rhymes have some of the strongest messages- like ring a ring of roses..

and so if with a poem such as this you can get us to think long and hard about our impact on nature, its well worth it.

this is straightforward and strong and i like it.

Thanks Indie,

If we take selfishly from this planet and leave our children without true knowledge and wisdom of the possibilities facing them, then the children could become The Last Generation.

Thankfully, despite the greed I see in many peoples' actions, I see an overwhelming number of great and wise teachers and a veritable Army of children armed to the teeth with Good Values and the Willpower to push through changes for the better when it becomes their time to lead. Wink

Thanks for dropping by and I'm very pleased you enjoyed my little rhyme. Very Happy

Cheers
